Punishe's Poem
|
I salute you, EroicaSadly enough sometimes you realize how insignifigant your own accomplishments are compared to those of others. I'm glad that I did have one of those moments though. I have just returned home from the movies where I saw Saving Private Ryan. Those of you that have not seen it I strongly recommend that you do...not for the glory war or special effects reasons that so many of us seem to enjoy with certain movies. Not having been in a war myself I dont even think I can gleam enough from the movie to even have half an inkling as to what it truely is like, nor God willing, do I hope to have to. Perhaps some of us in the 365th are ex-military, as I do know that others in AO have served. Pathetically it sometimes takes a movie like this one to step back and imagine a different reality in which I live. Then again thats probably the whole point of this movie and many others like it in the past. If it were not for those that served and died in wars our Republic would not stand today...I thank them all for allowing me to live safely and prosperously each day of my life. Thiers was a sacrifice and gift of peace for which we all too often take for granted. I especially write this those I play with in AO. Though our enemies are fake monsters and our casualties can be nullified, in a real war not everyone gets to go home. So it is for those reasons and of others sacrifices that I ask you, no actually implore you, to at sometime step back...to appriciate and thank those who truely served in defending our precious way of life. Yours truely, Sgt. Eroica <365th> Fighters Group |
